2023 3-Day Learn to Row Camp- (8/23, 8/25, 8/26)

Come "try" rowing without "trying out"!

Below are very important details and prerequisites. Please read the following information carefully.


This Fall, we are offering a 3 day (after school and on Saturday morning) Learn to Row Camp for students who are interested in checking out the sport of rowing WITHOUT any obligation to join!
If your student likes it and wants to join-  then register them under "New Learn to Row" registration and pay fee.

Application for the Fall 2023 season will open in early August 2023 and will be online only. To begin the process during the application period, simply click on the "REGISTER Now" button at the top right corner of this website. Select "Fall 2023  New Members" as the event you are registering for.

Step One: Complete the online registration application on this website when it's open. To begin, click in the top right corner of this page on the word "Register now". Payment can be made online by credit card, or turn in a check with the documents below in step two.
Step Two - Download and complete the following forms from this website, under the "Forms" heading:

1. VHSL Athlete Physical Form  
2.  Parent/Athlete Concussion Form

These documents must be completed and returned prior to practice and dropped off to:

et your other forms ready over the summer including the required physical dated 5/1/23 or later and swim test.  No student can participate if any form is incomplete. We look forward to your participation on the James River HS Crew team!

The JRHS Crew Team is the largest team in the school, and completion of the Fall Learn to Row program is a prerequisite for anyone wishing to join the team.

Important: Students considering participating in JRHS CREW for either Fall or Spring are required to complete the James River High School Learn to Row Program. Participation in any other rowing program does not exempt you.  Participants will learn all the basics of the sport of rowing, from boat rigging and handling to on-the-water racing. Sessions are held directly after school every Monday, Wednesday and Friday beginning the first week of school, and coaches may dictate Saturday morning practices also.
